ABOUT ME

CHUN YI TSANG holds a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano degree from the University of Toronto, a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Piano Performance and Pedagogy with First Class Honours. During her studies at the University of Toronto under Professor Steven Philcox, her training encompassed piano solos, collaboration with singers and instrumentalists, and ensemble music. She has performed in international festivals and masterclasses coached by Graham Johnson, Margo Garett, and Mirror Visions Ensemble.

A recipient of the Garth and Marjorie Beckett Fellowship in Collaborative Piano and the France-Canada Cultural Exchange Experience France Award, Chun Yi completed her DIPLÔME du stage d'été at the European American Musical Alliance Summer Music Institute in Paris, with a focus on chamber music.

With over 15 years of teaching experience, she maintains a thriving private piano studio in Markham, Ontario. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes three main values: Inspire, Nurture, and Empower.

Through a well-rounded approach, she builds strong foundations that enable students to reach their full musical potential. Her extensive teaching background includes individual lessons, accompanying children's choirs, and conducting percussion bands. Since 2020, she has served as the Joint School Music Association's piano competition adjudicator in Hong Kong. Currently, she is also active as a pianist with the Toronto Treble Singers and Toronto Classical Choir.
